Starting on 11-11-11 (November 11, 2011), Eleanor LeCain and I, Patricia Varley, opened and held a space for a circle of 10 women to come to a secluded estate on the Garden Isle of Kauai, Hawaii and discover her divine leadership potential in a workshop/retreat we call “Awaken the Leader Within”.

Women who are luscious, beautiful, bright Goddesses and who made a personal commitment to live life to the fullest showed up and gave 100% for the week (7 days!) we were together.  Each woman shone brightly, as she took the steps needed to walk her individual and collective path as powerful, conscious leader.  For herself, and for the greater good of Humanity.  Just what the world has just been waiting for

An Edgewalker is someone who walks between the worlds. In ancient cultures, each tribe or village had a shaman or medicine man. Edgewalking in ACTION :  IGNITE YOUR CREATIVITY, An Introduction to Story-telling through Hawaiian Hula with Lara A. Shah

• Experience Hawaiian Hula in a very unique way to ignite untapped potential within yourself…through playfulness and while having FUN.

• The ancient Hawaiians had no written language. Instead, all communication beyond the spoken word took place in the form of chants and the dance called Hula. In Hula, the movements of our body tell a story but also create flexibility and open channels of energy.  The hip movements in Hula open the spine and the bent knees bring up energy similar to Tai Chi or Qi Gong. This is one of the reasons Hula is so very healing for body, mind, heart and spirit.

• Hula is a healing path that emphasizes harmony and cooperation. It is through a Professional Facilitator that a group can acquire these. What is a Professional Facilitator? A Professional Facilitator is an individual who produce and enhance team work within the members. These individuals are those who do not think of themselves first but think about the concerns of others.

Professional Facilitators create a structure or an outline of the meeting. Through this, the meeting will go on smoothly and the possibility of mistakes to occur will be less. Having an outline about the agenda is very important, since, this outline will be your guide through out the meeting. Having them in your hand will make you feel comfortable since you already know what comes next after that.

To be a Professional facilitator, you should be able to distinguish right from wrong. You should not always follow an order when you know it is wrong. As a facilitator, you are obliged to whatever decision the group will conclude. You contribute to the decision of the group. Through this trait, you can help the organization realize their mistakes and help them correct it.

As a Professional Facilitator, you should also be communicable and have good speaking skills. You should communicate well, entertain questions and be able to convince them through your answers. Through this, not only you, but also the members of the organization will be able to communicate with each other. And this will be the first step in making each members work as one unit.

As a Professional Facilitator, you should be able to distinguish which topic is to be first at the list. Being able to know which must be a priority it also important because, through this, the agenda of the meeting will be met on time. Focusing on topics that are important is a must since these topics are the key in making the activity a success.

Stated above are only few traits and roles of a Professional Facilitator. Everybody has a potential of becoming a Professional Facilitator. Being a facilitator is not about your profession but it is your skill and your expertise in building team work. If everybody were a facilitator, what an organized community would we have been living in?

Patricia Varley has been in the field of corporate leadership training for a long time and maintains a website about managing meetings where you can get answers to the rest of your questions and contact her.

The keynote address – also known as the ‘keynote presentation’ – is designed to pass to the audience a hidden message in the speech. It is also made to summarize the most important part of the message or the core message.

Now, the question is, how can an individual be an effective keynoter?

FOOL THE LISTENERS. Sometimes, this won’t work. Listeners are very keen observers. They know whether you are just giving something you are not prepared. They know whether you have researched or prepared thoroughly your topic or not. Always keep in mind that when you are a keynoter, the audience expect highly of you. They do not see you as a simple reporter but an individual standing in front of them, taking out informative words from your mouth. When you are a keynoter, they will surely see you as an individual bursting with significant knowledge.

As a good public speaker, use all the time that is given to you by the audience. If they gave you a limited time, use all that time to deliver your message. If they gave you unlimited time, tell your audience first how many minutes or hours it will take for you to finish your speech. The most important thing is, within that range of time, your are able to send the people your message.

USE INSIDE STORIES. Sometimes in your presentation, you mention someone, or some event. When you do this, make sure that they know nothing of it. Keep them clueless or naive. Through this, they will be interested in you and your presentation in order for them to know. Keep them behind you. In that way, the audience will be fascinated to you and your presentation.

HIT YOUR AUDIENCE WITH A JOKE. If you are naturally funny, you can use your humour as a communication tool. Being humorous is a wonderful tool to communicate to your audience. You could also make a joke out of yourself revealing your vulnerabilities and faulty works. Stories about other people, instead of the audience, will make a more positive learning atmosphere. If you direct a cutting remark to one of your audience, the atmosphere will turn to a fishy aura like there is something wrong, and that will distract your message from coming out. Insulting the listener, even if not intended to, will be defensive and will doubt to what the speaker is saying.

GO OVER THE TIME LIMIT. There is always a contract between you as the speaker and your audience. Their part of the deal is to be attentive. And your part is that you have to deliver the necessary message intended to be delivered. Sometimes, there is a time limit for you to do that. If they give you a time limit, use all the time they gave you to present. If no time limit is give, inform them how many minutes it will take for your presentation to be done. If they get bored or done to your talking, tell them to inform you.

Keep in mind that these are just some tips. You could always formulate a new one to be a creative and successful keynote presenter.
